Committee approves facilities bucket-truck purchase at committee level

The Finance Committee approved, without objection, a request to purchase an LT40 bucket truck for the Facilities Management division at a fiscal impact of $188,893 to be funded from the fleet vehicle account. Facilities Director Mr. Stromcak said the county operates more than 200 buildings and the truck is crucial for lighting maintenance, gutter and roof work, HVAC support and monthly roof access at the detention center; he said this purchase replaces an existing facilities asset and is not an additional long-term duplication.
Committee members asked whether the county could share a vehicle with traffic management. Mr. Stromcak said the previously approved truck for traffic management serves different operational needs and that renting comparable equipment costs about $4,000 per week, making ownership more economical. The chair said the item is approved at committee level and will not require further committee action.
