Finance staff presented the department org chart and identified three director-level vacancies: budget director, procurement specialist 2, and a Title I coordinator. Staff said interviews are scheduled and that payroll has two new hires in training to provide overlap.
A committee member warned that vacancies in procurement and other finance roles pose risk for a $750,000,000 finance operation and urged regular staffing updates at every meeting. The committee discussed recruitment tools, including expanding use of online hiring platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed to reach qualified candidates.
Staff said they have two good candidates for procurement and planned interviews for the budget director; human resources is coordinating training overlaps so operations are not disrupted. Committee members asked staff to provide a regular update on staffing and, if needed, consider adjustments to salary structure to attract candidates.
