The commission recommended rezoning a City‑owned tract east of the intersection of Southwest Boulevard and Riverside Drive to Commercial‑High (Z‑7778) at its Aug. 7 meeting. The proposal would consolidate several existing zoning designations into a single CH district to eliminate development complications and align the parcel with the River Design Overlay and Route 66 Overlay standards that encourage pedestrian‑oriented, design‑sensitive development.
Ms. Ray, Managing Director of the City Design Studio, told commissioners that four proposals were submitted in response to a City request for proposals and that the anticipated rezoning matched the proposals. The planning staff recommended approval based on consistency with the Tulsa Comprehensive Plan’s Arkansas River Corridor designation. The commission voted 8‑0‑0 to recommend approval to City Council.
