Board approves policy rewrite sections A, B and D; clarifies residency rule for board members

The Klamath Falls City Schools Board voted unanimously to adopt policy rewrite sections A, B and D at the Jan. 12 meeting. Board Member Kelsey Bitzer moved to approve the sections (excluding items marked "on hold"), and Nicole Trejo seconded; Chair Andrew Biggs called the vote and all seven present voted in the affirmative.
Director of Operations Daymond Monteith noted only one substantive change since the prior reading: Policy BBB was clarified to specify residency requirements for all board members, including those elected at-large. The board discussed language in BD/BDA regarding communications outside meetings and asked administration to review the wording after the meeting. Policies that remain "on hold" will return for future consideration as staff and OSBA coordinate revisions.
Separately, the board also approved on second reading sections C and E after a brief discussion (motion by Vanessa Bennett, seconded by Kelsey Bitzer) with unanimous approval. No amendments were recorded during the votes at this meeting.
