The commission heard that the town's comprehensive plan — completed in 2024 — is subject to a five-year review and that a full rewrite would be required in 2034 under state guidance.
The zoning administrator said, "So 5 years from 2024" the plan is due for review and that the comprehensive plan will be reviewed and updated in 2029 with a full rewrite expected in 2034. The administrator also briefed the commission on upcoming staffing: council may appoint a new or interim zoning administrator at its Aug. 6 meeting, and options include appointing the town clerk, the assistant town clerk, or a council member temporarily.
Separately, the administrator cited a Municipal Association of South Carolina report noting the town among fastest-growing under-3,000 municipalities with roughly 2,600 residents and 2.8% growth from 2024 to 2025. Commissioners accepted the scheduling guidance and thanked staff for the information.
