The district's middle school, Ponderosa, recorded largely flat results in ELA and math while showing relatively stronger outcomes in science, staff reported at the Nov. 17 work session. Staff attributed middle-school performance challenges to turnover in tested content areas, limited intervention capacity, and lingering post-COVID learning gaps.
Board members supported action steps presented by staff: continued Capturing Kids' Hearts implementation, strengthened literacy instruction, targeted math coaching with a focus on fluency, and a plan to fund a full-time instructional coach to improve Tier 1 instruction and intervention capacity.
