Community Development staff told the commission that Ordinance 657 concerns five parcels, about 861 acres just off Exit 12 on the route to Snowville, proposed to be rezoned to MGEX for gravel/mining operations. Staff noted the property historically had been used at times for a gravel pit for UDOT and the county but had not been used as a commercial operation.
The Planning Commission recommended approval on the condition that future conditional-use permitting limit heavy access to Exit 12 and the interstate rather than county roads that cannot handle increased loads. Commissioner Perry moved to approve Ordinance 657 with the Planning Commission's stipulations; Commissioner Bingham seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners recorded the access stipulation for the conditional-use permit stage.
