KFCS reports full compliance with Oregon Division 22 standards after corrective actions

Fred Bartels reported that Klamath Falls City Schools has returned to full compliance with Oregon Division 22 administrative rules for school operations, curriculum, and student program requirements. Bartels said the district corrected previous noncompliance in elementary and middle school physical education by implementing and executing a corrective action plan to meet PE instructional time and program standards.
Bartels explained that compliance is reported as a binary status under state rules and that the district now meets Division 22 standards across the reviewed areas. Board members commended the cleanup and asked about the status of the state's Essential Skills diploma requirement; Bartels said the state had paused the requirement during the pandemic and the department may reconvene a committee but no timeline was confirmed.
The Division 22 report is an annual, statutory requirement; the board received the update as information and did not take further action during the meeting.
