KFCS board approves clerical correction to 2024-25 budget resolution

The Klamath Falls City Schools Board of Education on Oct. 13 unanimously approved an amended 2024-25 budget resolution that corrected a clerical imbalance in interfund transfer totals identified by the Oregon Department of Education.
Director of Operations Daymond Monteith told the board the amendment addresses accounting misalignment between interfund transfer revenues and expenses so the district can resubmit an accurate resolution to ODE. He emphasized the change was procedural: "The amendment does not change the overall budget total or affect program or staffing allocations," Monteith said. Vanessa Bennett moved to approve the amendment and Trina Perez seconded; the motion carried on a recorded unanimous vote.
Board discussion was procedural and brief; no member requested further changes. Monteith noted that the district routinely moves funds between the General Fund and the Capital Improvement Fund and that the corrected figures now meet ODE's accounting standards. He also reminded the board that a budgeted shortfall of approximately $200,000 exists in projections but said it is being monitored and does not currently require corrective action.
The board approved the amendment so staff can resubmit the corrected budget to the state. The motion carried with Trina Perez, Andrew Biggs, Nicole Trejo, Vanessa Bennett and Kathy Hewitt voting in the affirmative and no dissentions.
