Stacy Smith, LCHS principal, told the board that Mrs. Wilson’s Honors English class visited P.A.L.S Animal Shelter and A.W.O.L. Humane Society to observe and interview staff for a persuasive writing assignment. Smith said students will take the material back to the classroom to create digital adoption campaigns for each animal at the shelters.
Smith also reported that a large number of spring athletes are participating in Spring Sports this season. The report tied a curricular writing assignment to a community-service-oriented communications project and highlighted robust student involvement in extracurricular athletics.
