Public Works Superintendent Dan Nasalroad reported that BG Consultants, through engineer Abby Mills, recommended against sending stormwater north from 7th Street to Walnut and then over to 6th Street because 6th & Market is a recognized bottleneck that already receives a large volume of water.
Nasalroad said Abby Mills will evaluate other options to move stormwater out of the area. The council directed staff to pursue the consultant’s alternatives and to obtain hourly pricing for as-needed engineering services to assess problematic stormwater locations.
No funding or construction decisions were made at the meeting; engineering follow-up and cost estimates were requested for future consideration.
