He also provided a more detailed March 5–March 18 activity breakdown and noted Officer Kurtis West started full-time with the department on March 17, 2025 and "the onboarding has gone smooth."
Chief Mathies presented a draft revision of Chapter 7, Article 4 (Air Pollution) governing open burning within city limits; the code section had not been updated since 1988. Council Member Jerome Mitzner suggested the Public Safety Committee meet with Chief Mathies for review prior to returning it to the full council.
