Superintendent Dr. John Wyrick reported to the board that a district survey of teachers about this year’s five-day Thanksgiving break found about 80% of respondents preferred the longer break compared with the prior three-day schedule. He said the district will retain that data while the district builds the 2024–25 school calendar.
Wyrick also said Coffeyville Community College contacted the district to explore expanding career and technical education (CTE) partnerships with Labette County High School. No formal agreement was presented at the meeting; Wyrick characterized the outreach as interest in collaboration.
