The Labette County Unified School District USD 506 Board of Education voted 7-0 on Sept. 11 to approve the 2023–2024 budget and set the proposed mill rate at 47.891. Kevin Cole made the motion to adopt the budget and Justin Bebb seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent John Wyrick and board members noted the vote followed review of the district’s 2022–2023 state assessment results previously reviewed at the August board meeting. The approval finalizes the district’s revenue plan for the coming year and allows administrators to proceed with planned operations and capital priorities. The board did not amend the proposed mill rate at the meeting.
