October CIP update: 48/49th paving nearing completion; resident raises subsidence concerns

Director Kumpke reported progress on capital-improvement projects: Phase 1 of 48/49th Street (Switzer to Knox) has been paved and crews are finishing cleanup and sod; the 2025 Street and drainage project should complete concrete work this week and pave next week if schedules hold. Kumpke said a subcontractor was hired where needed to complete concrete work and staff expected to make up lost time.
During public comment, resident Billy Kron told the council neighbors had reported subsidence, pooling water and erosion after sidewalk and curb work. He asked the city to inspect and, if necessary, repair areas one year (or 1.5 years) after construction to account for settling. "I think it would be a good idea to go back, like, maybe a year after... inspect and to repair subsidence when these sorts of constructions go on," Kron said. Staff acknowledged the concern and said they will note the issue for follow-up.
