Public works reports paving progress on 48–49th and 2025 Street and drainage projects

Director Kumpke told the council that phase 1 of the 48–49th Street project (Switzer to Knox) has been paved and contractors are finishing cleanup and sod; subcontractors were brought in where needed. She said the 2025 Street and drainage project should complete concrete work this week and paving could occur next week, and that progress should bring both projects back on schedule.
Council member Silvers praised visible neighborhood improvements, saying the work has made the area more walkable. Resident Billy Kron (6633 West Street) raised a separate concern about subsidence and pooling at private lots after sidewalk and curb replacement and suggested a follow-up inspection about a year after construction to identify settling and repair needs.
