City staff provided an update on the single-hauler transition to GFL and said residents may sign individual contracts ahead of the city's contract going into effect on Nov. 1, 2026. "If individuals want to sign up for that service before our contract goes into effect next year, they're certainly able to do so," the staff presenter said, and staff promised a multi-page communication packet for residents timed around Thanksgiving.
Council members discussed pickup-day changes and resident confusion. One council member reported that, after switching service, their pickup day changed from Wednesday to Thursday; another council member said neighborhoods north of Johnson Drive are being picked up on Thursdays, based on their sign-up. Staff agreed to request pickup-day information from GFL and to add more robust online updates.
