LHS tightens supports for freshmen and links athletics eligibility to grades
Summary

Assistant Principal Eric Freeman told the board that LHS is pulling D and F grade data so departments can intervene and that the school modified its conference schedule to allow students time to raise grades before grading-period deadlines. Freeman also said La Grande High School is coordinating with the middle school to offer an English 9 class to eighth graders to allow them to earn high-school credit.
Athletic Director Darren Goodman described a 'No F' participation policy for athletics: students with F grades must meet with Goodman and work toward passing to regain or maintain eligibility. Goodman told the board these steps aim to keep students academically on track while preserving extracurricular opportunities.
