A proposal to start a boys soccer cooperative program was presented to the board on Aug. 14 to increase opportunities for students amid low local participation.
Kaleb Rainsberry outlined the co-op concept and district Athletic Director Goodman will contact other area athletic directors to identify potential partners. Haven Carlson, president of Union County Youth Soccer, gave background on county soccer programs and rebuilding efforts. Superintendent George Mendoza said the co-op "could be a short term solution until La Grande numbers increase," and he will report findings at the Aug. 28 work session. The board requested a written plan identifying participating districts before the work session.
