City staff presented a proposed audiovisual upgrade for the council chambers that would be Zoom-based and improve remote call-in and presentation visibility for council members who cannot attend in person.
Staff member (miss Gard) said the solution "is going to be a Zoom based solution" and that it will allow remote council members to see presentations and have better audio. Council members asked whether the upgrade would allow remote public speakers; staff clarified it would not: "This is specifically for the availability of the council to remote call in." Council requested the practice of recording meetings and posting them to YouTube continue after the upgrade. Staff said the proposed system is expected to be significantly under budget and they will return with a contract if the governing body is satisfied with the approach.
Council expressed general support and suggested staff bring a final contract for review and approval.
