Employee survey: high recommendation and retention rates, district outlines action plan

Scott Garner, director of employment services, presented the 2026 employee experience survey and highlighted strong engagement and retention numbers: 91% participation among certified staff and a 97% certified-staff retention rate. "97% of our staff would recommend the School District of New Berlin to people they know," Garner said, noting that communication and respect scores were also high.
Garner identified the three lowest scoring areas (including pay/benefits and recognition) and outlined a plan to have principals create action plans for their schools, use pulse surveys in January to check progress, and continue annual surveying. The administration said it will use Qualtrics dashboards to track progress and hold principals accountable for implementing and reporting local improvement plans.
