Finance committee OKs temporary tweak to common consumption map to include Broadmoor Park market site

Robin Folks presented an amendment to the city's common consumption area map so the weekly market's temporary location at Broadmoor Park can be included. The common consumption area is a State of Kansas tool that the city administers to allow certain alcohol sales within defined public boundaries; rules require the boundary to touch or be adjacent to vendors allowed to participate.
"It essentially just takes our regular common consumption area... and adds a very thin line down Johnson Drive that really doesn't add any businesses or anything into it to encompass Broadmoor Park," Folks said. Committee members joked about the map's odd shape but approved the recommendation and placed the amendment on consent. Staff noted the amendment can be reversed once the market returns to its regular site.
