Council asked to ratify $44,500 emergency storm-drain repair after City Hall sinkhole

Stephanie Boyce described an emergency repair undertaken after a sinkhole formed in the front yard of City Hall on March 9. Inspection found a structural failure at the bottom of a 60-inch corrugated metal pipe. Staff solicited three quotes, selected Infrastructure Solutions (lowest bidder), and authorized immediate repairs under Mission Municipal Code section 1.120.145 because of the safety hazard.
"On Monday, March 9, a sinkhole formed in front of City Hall, prompting Public works to investigate... It was determined that there was a structure failure at the bottom of that 60 inch corrugated metal pipe," Boyce said. Infrastructure Solutions cleaned and repaired the CMP line and filled the sinkhole; staff requested ratification of the emergency expenditure not to exceed $44,500.05. The committee asked a brief follow-up about remaining CMP inventory and recommended acceptance on consent.
