The update noted spare equipment was exhausted and South Fork Wind expects a closeout report in Q1 2027.
Trustees and other participants discussed causes and remedies. One trustee urged getting Stony Brook's assessment before accepting a closeout: "That's gonna be up to Stony Brook... we'll get their take on it," the trustee said, noting the data's usability depends on sample size and a power analysis. Another trustee suggested outreach to local fishermen to recover gear and asked whether incentives or rewards have been offered for returned receivers.
Participants also noted the telemetry data are intended to be integrated with troll surveys to assess migration patterns and any effect from electromagnetic fields near the cable. Trustees agreed staff should contact Stony Brook researchers for a technical assessment and consider communicating trustee concerns to relevant oversight bodies if Stony Brook deems the data insufficient for analysis.
