Library board debates public-notice requirement for room reservations

The Duchesne County Library Board reviewed proposed updates to the Room Reservation Policy at its June 16 meeting. Director Daniel Mauchley proposed that hosts of public events must advertise on the library bulletin board three days prior to the event and place a sign outside the door during the event; he said groups that fail to publicize would be charged rent to use the library room as a private event.
Board members pushed back on the three-day window and proposed that notice be posted one week in advance instead of the director’s three-day minimum. The minutes record the board’s counterproposal but do not show a final vote or formal adoption of the change; the item remained under review for further consideration at a later meeting.
