Madison council hears engineer: WWTP decommissioning quote raised budget concerns

Village Engineer Eric Haibach told council he is coordinating with Chivers Construction Co. and the EPA on a plan to decommission the Waste Water Treatment Plant and said he has "received a cost for this; however, he is not happy with the number so he is hoping that cost wise this will drop."
Fiscal Officer Kristie Crockett said the budget packets are out but that she had to change the budget because of the decommissioning quote; she added that the cost "has been added to the budget, however; she is hoping that the cost will come down." Council later approved a purchase order to Chivers Construction Co., not to exceed $5,000, to remove excess effluent at the WWTP. The purchase order passed on a 5–0 roll call.
