North Dakota Department of Agriculture pitches regional livestock planning grant; no county cost

Haylee Viger, Agriculture & Livestock Development Specialist with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, presented a Regional Livestock Development and Planning Grant opportunity. She explained the program would fund a study using GIS maps to locate land that is 'good, better and best' for livestock development based on water access, road networks and electric service, that the study would take roughly six months, and that participation would carry no cost to the county.
Commissioners agreed to ask NDSU Extension to get up to speed on the grant and to consider the county’s potential participation at a future agenda meeting. No formal commitment or contract was approved at the July 7 meeting.
