Madison council approves $3.24 million pay ordinance and temporary 2025 appropriations

The Village of Madison Council voted unanimously Dec. 23 to approve Pay Ordinance No. 2514, which the minutes list as $69,695.44 for payroll and $3,168,842.97 for current and upcoming expenses, totaling $3,238,538.41.
Council also suspended rules and passed Ordinance No. 32-2024 to set temporary appropriations for the period Jan. 1–Mar. 31, 2025. The temporary appropriations motion and the passage vote were both recorded as 5 yeas. Fiscal Officer Kristie Crockett told council that budget packets have been distributed and that temporary appropriations work will be done in the first quarter of 2025.
Crockett noted the budget was adjusted after the Village received a quote related to the Waste Water Treatment Plant decommissioning and said she "hopes that the cost will come down." The council did not record any objections to the measures during the Dec. 23 meeting.
