Board questions parking capacity; team cites gravel overflow and field for occasional events

A board member asked how the congregation will accommodate larger events when the proposed sanctuary capacity exceeds the number of marked parking spaces on the plan. "I only count 38 parking spots," the member said, asking where attendees would park for larger services or events.
Mike Ott replied that the site includes a gravel surface overflow area and an open field adjacent to the gravel that the congregation expects to use on the few occasions each year when attendance is highest. "They certainly can come off the end of this gravel area and get into this area too," Ott said, adding that the congregation told the design team it has only a couple of events a year where overflow parking would be needed.
The board accepted this operational explanation as part of the application review; the team did not propose paved expansion of parking at this time.
