Road Commissioner Robin Guiterrez told the board that recent rains left an unsafe amount of sand on the road edges and recommended using a sweeper. "Motion was made by Peter Brzozowy seconded by Joe Deller to allow Robin $500.00 for the use of a sweeper, all in favor, yes," the minutes record. The motion passed and the funds will cover sweeper use to reduce roadside sand before mowing.
Mr. Judkins from VTRANS will visit the island to inspect culverts and assist with grant writing; the town said it had been awarded grant money for culvert work. The board also approved compensating Robin Guiterrez $350 for a day spent accompanying Mr. Judkins because she would miss regular work, recorded in a successful motion. Separately, the board authorized Robin to enter an agreement with BFA St. Albans for 20 collapsible, reflective sawhorses to be built by students; materials plus 10% labor will be paid on completion.
