Debra Langlois, the Selectboard clerk and town clerk, told the board that “At approximately 8:59 am on May 20th, water damage was noticed upon entering the Town Office.” SERVPRO (recorded in minutes as "Serve Pro") performed moisture checks, removed standing water and began drying procedures; photos were taken and an insurance adjuster inspected the building but no final report had been received at the time of the meeting.
Chair Peter Brzozowy said he took immediate steps to stop the leak and begin remediation after the clerk reported the problem. The minutes record that Peter Murray located the source of the failure and ordered parts for a blown-out pipe, and that Toby Peacock came to turn off the water. Selectboard members pressed for clearer emergency-notification protocols after some members said they were not notified and suggested that the board consider calling an emergency meeting when comparable incidents occur. Interim arrangements were discussed: staff will continue to assist residents by phone and online and the board asked that event organizers identify alternate venues while the office remains closed.
