Madison finance office outlines 2027 budget schedule, tax-bill mailing delays and tax-sale notice

The finance department (speaker 6) said the administration is preparing for the 2027 budget and will meet with department heads over the next 10 weeks to review capital and operating needs. A flyer summarizing high-level 2026 budget information was included with recently mailed tax bills.
The tax collector reported that tax and PILOT bills were mailed late due to a county delay; because of the delay the administration extended a 0.25% grace period to Aug. 20 but reminded residents that payments not received by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 20 will be charged full interest back to the statutory due date (Aug. 1). The tax collector also announced the annual tax sale on Sept. 10 for properties with unpaid balances and noted that official notices were mailed to affected properties.
