The Board of Trustees of New Plymouth School District #372 recessed into executive session twice on Jan. 26, 2026, citing Idaho Code Section 74-206(1)(a) (personnel hire exceptions) to evaluate candidates for a head baseball coach position. The minutes record that the board first recessed into executive session at 6:02 p.m. after a motion and later reconvened the public meeting at 6:16 p.m. when Vice-Chair Doug Rupp requested that Trustee Jared Kovick recuse himself from voting on a baseball-coach matter due to a conflict of interest; Trustee Kovick recused himself.
Following further discussion and a motion to retain a candidate, the board again entered executive session at 6:25 p.m. (the roll shows one dissenting vote by Doug Rupp on that motion to enter). The board returned to public session at 7:35 p.m. and conducted the public votes. The minutes cite Section 74-206(1)(a) as the statutory authority for the executive sessions; no additional public testimony or statements from candidates are recorded in the minutes.
