Port staff: MV Belle Chasse back in service; Pointe ferry landings remain closed

Miss Bell told the council the MV Belle Chasse is back in service at Belle Chasse and is no longer in sea trials. "The MV Belle Chasse is... it's not in sea trials anymore," she said, adding she had recently spoken with Mr. Toney and that the vessel is docked at one of the port landings.
She said the Pointe ferry landings remain closed while crews finish apron work: one apron is being sandblasted and painted at the blast yard and the other should finish fabrication and follow the same process. Miss Bell said installation is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, followed by testing and state approvals before the landings reopen to the public.
Staff said they will provide community updates so residents know when the landings will be available.
