The Newdale City Council closed a public hearing on the FY2026 proposed budget and a FY2025 budget amendment during its Aug. 7, 2025 meeting and adopted Ordinance B-2025A after a single reading.
Mayor Chad Stevens opened the hearing at the start of the meeting and the council recessed formal public comment before taking procedural votes. After a motion to suspend the required three readings of ordinances, Stevens read Ordinance B-2025A once. Kevin VanWagner moved to adopt B-2025A and Shayne Hansen seconded; a roll-call vote recorded Kevin VanWagner, Raymonda Furness, Brett Leavitt and Shayne Hansen as voting “Yes,” and the motion passed. The council closed the budget hearing at 9:00 p.m.
The adoption followed routine housekeeping motions earlier in the meeting, including approval to pay August 2025 bills and acceptance of the July 3, 2025 minutes. The council’s action on B-2025A implements the council’s chosen budget and formally records the FY2025 amendment discussed during the hearing.
