The Isle La Motte Selectboard agreed Aug. 6 to seek an independent insurance adjuster to help the town pursue a water-damage claim for the town office. Chair Peter Brzozowy opened the discussion after Karin Brunner reported that her conversation with "Kelly from VLCT" indicated the insurer’s initial estimate was a "low-ball" figure and that more damaged items need to be added to the claim.
The board said it wants an adjuster familiar with commercial claims and negotiation to represent the town’s interests. No motion to hire a specific adjuster was recorded; the next steps are to identify candidates and return with recommendations. The board also ratified other routine business during the meeting, including multiple warrants and minutes approvals.
