Lowell council approves pro tem Public Works Director appointment for Hunter Harris

The City of Lowell council voted unanimously to approve a pro tem Public Works Director agreement appointing Hunter Harris to perform the duties of Public Works Director.
Interim City Administrator Max Baker explained the agreement was needed because Harris has "already been stepping up since November." Councilor Jimmy Murray moved to approve the agreement effective Dec. 1, 2024, and to include an additional $750 per month in compensation; Councilor Don Bennett seconded the motion. The roll-call vote recorded Mayor Maureen Weathers, Murray, Tim Stratis, Gail Harris and Bennett as voting YES; the motion passed 5–0.
Council direction authorized the City Administrator to sign the agreement. The minutes do not record a second reading, an expiration date for the pro tem status, or additional implementation steps beyond authorization to sign.
