Selectboard orders removal of swings at Veterans Park after safety recommendation

Board minutes record the committee's two recommendations verbatim: "the removal of all swings and the slide at Veterans Park for safety reasons until such time that those areas are upgraded to meet insurance recommendations" and, regarding an adaptive swing, "the Selectboard should coordinate with the family who has reportedly purchased an adaptive swing to facilitate its acquisition and professional installation ... after it is determined the adaptive swing is code compliant."
After discussing that no formal complaint had been filed (the incident was reported via social media to a Selectboard member), the Selectboard voted to remove swings as soon as practical. Peter Brzozowy and Michael Simanskas volunteered to remove chains and seats; the board agreed to assess the slide for possible removal or repair when they are at the park.
