The Isle La Motte Selectboard on Oct. 1 approved hiring Clear Water Filtration to perform pump-room repairs at the town office after recent flood damage. Chair Peter Brzozowy told the board that VLCT, the town's insurer, will reimburse up to $52,193.45 for repairs, with 80% paid up front and the remaining 20% retained to cover unforeseen work.
Clear Water Filtration submitted a quote of $5,145 to adjust and reuse existing equipment, flush lines and take a potable-water sample; the company estimated annual maintenance at about $135. The board voted to accept the Clear Water proposal and instructed Chair Brzozowy to sign the agreement. The board also approved an RFP, drafted by Mary-Catherine Grazziano, seeking plumbers to replace existing copper pipes with non-corrosive piping; the RFP will be posted after a few minor additions requested by the board.
The board discussed additional flooring and wall repairs that will follow; Brzozowy said the insurers stated goal is to return the building to its prior condition and that the town will add measures (including a newly installed shut-off valve) to reduce the risk of a repeat emergency. No final total cost for full restoration was reported at the meeting.
