The Okemah Board of Education began its April 13 regular meeting by administering the oath of office to Mekko McGirt and completing a reorganization of board officers for the 2026–27 year. Attendance was recorded at 6:30 p.m. with five members present.
Board members then moved through nominations and roll-call votes. A motion by J.C. Haddox, seconded by Randy Colbert, to nominate Jason Bean as board president passed unanimously. Subsequent motions approved J.C. Haddox as vice president (motion by Gina Brandt, second Randy Colbert), Randy Colbert as clerk (motion by Gina Brandt, second J.C. Haddox), and Gina Brandt as deputy clerk (motion by J.C. Haddox, second Randy Colbert); all were recorded as 5–0 votes.
The reorganizational votes were routine and took place in open session immediately after the oath. The board proceeded to the remainder of the agenda following the officer elections.
