Board adopts emergency action and health-related policies including Chase Morris cardiac arrest plan

The Oklahoma Union board adopted several health and safety policies at its Sept. 11 meeting, including an Emergency Action Plan identified in the agenda as the Chase Morris Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act, the district Health Services Policy, and the Wellness and Tobacco Free Policy.
KY Cole moved and Hannah Nolte seconded approval of the Emergency Action Plan; the motion carried 4–0 with Joanne Langworthy absent. The board also approved the Health Services Policy and the Wellness and Tobacco Free Policy by unanimous votes. Officials said these items were presented as part of annual policy review and to ensure compliance with state guidance and student safety practices.
Separately, the board approved OKU Voluntary Prayer and Moment of Silence procedures by motion (4–0). The agenda presented the policies as items for adoption for the 2024–25 school year.
