All formal motions carried 4-0; one member was absent.
The Oklahoma Union Public School Board met Aug. 7, 2024 in the high school conference room and approved a slate of policy updates, contracts and hires in a meeting that ran from 7:00 p.m. to 8:24 p.m. Board President Mark Huntington called the meeting to order; the board voted unanimously (4-0, KY Cole absent) on motions to approve new and revised district policies, personnel actions and contracts.
Superintendent Brenda Taylor said the district must apply to receive accreditation with distinction and noted the possibility of academic deficiencies during evaluation. Following an executive session the board approved two personnel actions: employing Masyn Copeland as a paraprofessional on a support personnel contract for 2024-2025 and hiring Franklin Ward as a strength and conditioning coach under contracted services. Both employment motions were approved 4-0.
