The Oklahoma New Motor Vehicle Commission voted unanimously April 2 to hire John Marion as its Executive Director, with the appointment effective April 6, 2026 and a starting salary of $130,000 per year. The hiring motion, made by Commissioner Seth Wadley and seconded by Commissioner Jared Glover, passed on a roll call vote with all seven members present voting "aye."
Commissioners also approved an amendment to the hiring motion clarifying that current Executive Director Brad Bailey will remain with the commission through April 30, 2026 and will work with Marion during a transition. That amendment was moved by Commissioner Wadley, seconded by Commissioner Glover, and approved unanimously. The meeting record shows the commission entered and exited executive session as permitted under 25 O.S. โ7 307(b)(1) to interview candidates and discuss terms.
The meeting agenda and posted public notice identify the session as a Special Meeting; staff present at the meeting included Executive Director Brad Bailey, Deputy Executive Director Marilyn Maxwell, and Assistant Attorney General Scott May. No public comment was recorded in the meeting minutes. The chair adjourned the meeting after the personnel actions were completed.
