Board reviews first readings of WSSDA policies on student safety, child abuse, facility use, nondiscrimination and grading

During the Sept. 8, 2025 work session the board was presented with WSSDA model policies for first reading. The policies included: Policy 3143 (Notification and Dissemination of Information about Student Offenses and Notifications of Threats of Violence or Harm); Policy & Procedure 3421 (Child Abuse and Neglect); Policy 4260 (Use of School Facilities); Policy & Procedure 5010 (Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action); and Policy & Procedure 2420 (Grading and Progress Reports). These were presented as first readings and no adoption or vote was taken at the work session.
Business Manager Bo Charlton introduced the items as WSSDA model policies being provided to the board for review. The board will consider these policies in subsequent meetings according to the district’s policy-adoption process; because these were first readings, the policies remain under review and may be revised before any final adoption vote.
