Cashmere students introduce ASB officers; state board student rep invited to WSSDA conference

Cashmere High School Leadership Advisor Andy Groce introduced the new Associated Student Body officers at the Sept. 22 board meeting. ASB Secretary Rylan Reiber, ASB President Eliana Thomas, ASB Treasurer Brooke Chalmers and ASB Vice President Hadley Westlund described their activities and upcoming events at Cashmere High School.
Superintendent Johnson introduced Rylie Acheson, one of two student representatives on the Washington State Board of Education. Acheson said the current focus is on the Future Ready Initiative and on Washington’s graduation requirements, noting that "Washington requires approximately 24 credits to graduate, which is higher than the national average of about 18 credits." The Board invited Acheson to provide ongoing updates on her work and to attend this year’s Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) Conference as a student representative.
Chairman Aaron Bessonette congratulated Acheson on her achievements and expressed the Board’s pride.
