Okmulgee board approves policy updates and new policies with numbering correction requested

The board approved updates to several board policies and adopted two new policies; Board Member Heather Kimbley asked that the policy number for the new Standards of Performance policy be corrected because that number is already in use.
The Okmulgee Board of Education approved updates to multiple board policies on Aug. 13, including BPOL #3015 (Graduation Requirements), BPOL #4014 (Student Possession of Wireless Telecommunication Devices), BPOL #5033 (Suspension, Termination, and Nonreemployment of Teachers), BPOL #7002 (Support Personnel Suspension, Demotion, Nonrenewal or Termination) and BPOL #8001 (Moment of Silence and Voluntary Private Prayer). Motions were made and passed by recorded ayes from the board.
The board also approved two new policies listed in the minutes as BPOL #5036 (Standards of Performance and Conduct for Teachers) and BPOL #8016 (Prohibition of Race & Sex Discrimination in Curriculum and Complaint Process). Board Member Heather Kimbley noted the new policy #5036 needs a different policy number because that number is already in use; the board approved the new policies pending correction of the numbering.
