Superintendent Brenda Taylor presented the district's financial update at the Dec. 11 board meeting, reporting a year-to-date increase in expenditures of $168,898.91. Taylor broke that total down as approximately $77,000 for insurance, $60,000 for math textbooks, and about $18,000 for a visual inspection expense.
Taylor also told the board the district expects roughly $288,000 less revenue this year compared with last year, attributing the shortfall to not receiving ESSER funding this year. Jenkins & Kemper performed the on-site financial audit Dec. 3; the firm is tentatively scheduled to present audit findings to the board by phone on Jan. 8, 2025.
The board discussed budget implications briefly during the superintendent's report but took no additional fiscal actions beyond approving previously listed encumbrances during the same meeting.
