The Civil Service Commission authorized the City to post job advertisements on behalf of the Commission for the open police chief position.
Secretary Charles Martin explained that the police chief position remains open until filled and that the City needs the Commission's permission to post a new round of advertisements. Commissioners discussed that the stated salary range is likely to attract candidates at or near sergeant rank from other Washington agencies or leaders from neighboring states.
Commissioner Carra Nupp moved to approve the City posting job advertisements on behalf of the Commission as needed; Commissioner Jim Earle seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The action permits City staff to advertise to recruit a pool of candidates for the chief position.
