Trustees discuss student mental-health outreach and WSSDA legislative priorities

During board comments on Oct. 15, student representatives reported out from the Student Advisory Meeting and urged expanded mental-health awareness and outreach to families who do not speak English. Student representative Henry Etue and student participant Allie Anderson raised those concerns during the Student Rep report.
President Kelsi Hamilton also summarized a Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) update, saying the top two bipartisan bills anticipated next legislative session will address limitations on student cell-phone use in schools and expanded financial literacy instruction. The remarks were advisory and informational; no formal position or board vote was taken at the meeting.
Board members also thanked administrators in recognition of National Principals Month.
