On Oct. 15 the Chehalis School District Board approved the consent agenda after a motion by J Vander Stoep and a second by Larry Petersen. Director Colleen State abstained from the vote because of a potential conflict; the motion passed 4-0.
The consent packet included the draft minutes of the Sept. 17 meeting; payroll and accounts-payable warrants (examples: electronic deposits totaling $1,734,568.48; PR Warrants of $73,299.39; multiple AP check ranges amounting to several hundred thousand dollars); a personnel report; and an extensive list of student and staff travel requests. Approved travel included multiple overnight Forensics tournaments and athletics trips from Oct. 2024 through May 2025 (examples: Forensics trips in Redmond Oct. 18–19 and Gig Harbor Nov. 1–2; Girls Basketball overnight Dec. 26–28 in Snohomish; state-level athletics travel in March 2025 to Yakima). Costs for many trips were covered by Forensics, Athletics/ASB or Booster Club as noted in the packet.
The board did not debate each travel item individually; the approvals were included as part of the consent agenda process.
